Interpretation

The listener wears a receiver (earphone) and hears the interpreted voice in real time as the speaker speaks. Interpreters work from a dedicated booth. Because they rotate roughly every 15 minutes, a minimum of two interpreters is required for sessions up to three hours; three to four are needed when sessions exceed three hours.

The speaker pauses at intervals, and the interpreter renders that segment — repeating throughout. Because the interpreter requires the same amount of time as the speech, a 30-minute speech also needs 30 minutes of interpretation. One interpreter can handle up to three hours; longer assignments require two to three interpreters.

The interpreter whispers the interpretation quietly to one or two listeners, helping them follow what is being discussed at a meeting. When the listener wishes to speak, the interpreter switches to consecutive interpretation.

Simultaneous interpretation requires dedicated equipment. Even for consecutive interpretation at business negotiations or internal meetings, we recommend a microphone or simple interpretation system when there are more than 10–15 participants. Tell us the room size, number of participants, and number of people needing interpretation, and we will propose the optimal system.
